WxDFast Removal Guide

Do you know what WxDFast is?

WxDFast is an adware program which should display commercial advertisements whenever you browse the Internet, but it seems that at the moment most of the servers WxDFast makes use of to generate the advertisements are down, and during research none of the unwanted behavior can be reproduced. Nevertheless, it does not mean that you can keep this application on your computer. You should remove WxDFast, because it copies the name of a legitimate program and can even expose you to potentially dangerous content.

Some users may mistake WxDFast for wxDownload Fast which is a legitimate open source download manager program. The program’s creators are aware of the fact that potentially unwanted and malicious applications are being distributed under the download manager’s name, and they warn users about it in their home page at dfast.sourceforge.net saying:

ALERT: There is a malware using the name wxdownload (or wxdownloadmanager). The malware site use some of the original screenshots and texts. Be carefully. The wxDownload Fast original files are aways hosted in SourceForge.net

It is obvious that the original wxDownload Fast is not supposed to support commercial advertisements, especially as there are not additional files in its installation setup. However, if you experience constant pop-ups on Internet Explorer (Mozilla Firefox blocks this adware application), then you most probably have downloaded the wrong application. Or you must have downloaded the download manager from a third party website, and the installer file was bundled with a list of additional programs, WxDFast included.

We can see that nothing good should be expected from WxDFast, especially as Mozilla Firefox blocks the extension, saying it causes security and stability issues. The plug-in can still be installed properly on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, and if you want to keep your computer safe, you should really remove it immediately.

The manner of removal depends on whether this application has arrived at your computer alone, or bundled with other freeware. You can find the manual removal instructions below this article, but if you are not sure whether there are other potentially unwanted and dangerous applications installed on your computer, run a full system scan with SpyHunter free scanner. The full system scan will help you determine whether you have any potentially unwanted programs or files on board. If you cannot terminate them manually, invest in a powerful antimalware tool that would delete all the potential threats automatically.
