There are lots of bullshits on internet, how remove this officious Antivirus 2008 virus… but the truth is: they DON”T work!!!! I tried everything, all tools were recommended, but NO one of them worked…. (Spyware Doctor was worst, made computer slower and didn’t detect anything!)

Antivirus 2008 isn’t so easy to find, It’s hide itself under normal windows files and processes names!!!!

But only one program which helped so much was a-squared HiJackFree.

In ActiveX tab I found these horrible Rogue viruses, they were marked red and I just unistalled it (but you must be careful, not to delete Windows components, first make google search before deleting something…)
a-squared HiJackFree is wonderful tool!!!!

Good luck for all! :-)

Thanks for this. Eventually tracked down all the files to remove although the filenames on my machine were different to those in this article:

rhclvgj0e32n.exe
pphcgvj0e32n.exe

As per one of the previous comments, my screensaver & desktop theme were affected. Am left without the Windows option for screensaver now, but frankly a minor issue to sort out some time later...........

Interestingly neither Windows Defender nor MacAfee were able to remove this completely.

Now to make sure my daughter doesn't click those urls again!

thanks for the help in getting rid of that horrible virus it took less than ten mins and worked fine.
only question is how can I tell if all of it has gone ie the keystroke log?

Ran the Antivirus 2008 Removal Instructions twice. Both times it skipped items 6 and 7 and DID NOT remove the spyware
