Vista Antivirus 2008 Removal Guide

Do you know what Vista Antivirus 2008 is?

Vista Antivirus 2008 or VistaAntivirus2008 is a rogue anti-spyware program that is similar to other dangerous rogue programs such as Antivirus2008. Vista Antivirus 2008 uses the common name to fool computer users and make them think it is a trustworthy program. Vista Antivirus 2008 is not trustworthy and discovered to be a waste of time and money.

Vista Antivirus 2008 is known to be installed without your knowledge or permission. This may be done through a Trojan infection which could have been downloaded through a fake video codec.

In non-techie terms: Vista Antivirus 2008 is just like many other rogue anti-spyware programs where it uses illicit tactics to extort money from you. Vista Antivirus 2008 attempts to get you to purchase the full version of Vista Antivirus 2008 but do not fall for that trap. Do not download or purchase Vista Antivirus 2008 under any circumstances.

Unfortunately these steps did not work, the computer company i work for has 7 systems with this infection on them, when searching the registry there is nothing labeled with any of these names and smitfraudfix was unable to remove it, as well it does not show up in ad/remove programs and msconfig, we have not yet tried the spyhunter application but soon will. This rogue app is much more advanced then is brother program xp antivirus (which is quite simple to remove). If anyone has any other ideas or has found a way to remove it please post it. I really do hope so, this rogue app has only been out for a couple of weeks and has infected a ton of systems very quickly and needs to be doubt with quickly to stop this flow of infections on peoples systems.

I was able to remove it by ending the vav.exe in task manager and then deleting the VAV folder in program files. I also had to delete the shortcut on the desktop. All seams well now!
