It is not a regular search provider because it is usually associated with the My Current News XP by SaferBrowser extension that is compatible with the most popular web browsers: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. The official source representing this extension is mycurrentnewsxp.com/News, and its publisher is SailMachine. We have mentioned the names of these companies in many of our previous reports because they are also responsible for Search.myclassifiedsxp.com, Search.yourradionow.com, Search.myspeedtestxp.com, and similar search tools that we usually recognize as browser hijackers. If a program is capable of changing your browser’s settings without permission, it is a browser hijacker that deserves immediate removal. Although My Current News XP warns its users that changes will be initiated, not many users notice this warning. My Current News XP changes the homepage and default search engine only on Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers; however, Search.mycurrentnewsxp.com could corrupt Chrome as well by setting the startup page to open the extension via New Tab. This extension also adds a toolbar to Firefox and IE browsers to show links to various news websites, including go.cnn.com, edition.cnn.com, and foxnews.com. This toolbar also shows Local Weather. Although My Current News XP might seem useful at first, the main feature of this extension is to introduce you to Search.mycurrentnewsxp.com. This search provider is neither useful not reliable, and we believe it is best for you to delete it as soon as possible. If you enter keywords, you will be redirected to Yahoo Search via the extsearch.maxwebsearch.com server, and the results shown are likely to be modified. Needless to say, this is not how a trustworthy, useful search tool should work. Once installed, the Chrome extension (ID ibnhigdfmacodpffeofnbpigfjohappe) is found in the Extensions folder under C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\ and Firefox extension (news@jetpack.xpi file) under C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[*]\extensions. Although you can, removing Search.mycurrentnewsxp.com extension directly from these folders is not recommended. The extension for Internet Explorer is sent via secure.fileldr08.com, and it is easiest to delete it by uninstalling it via Control Panel.

Delete from Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox and tap Ctrl+Shift+A to access the Add-ons Manager.
- In the menu on the left click Extensions.
- Find the unwanted extension and click the Remove button next to it.
Remove leftovers
N.B. Even if you delete unwanted extensions and uninstall unwanted software, leftovers might remain active, and you must remove them as well. These are the leftovers associated with the hijacker that you might have to remove. Do not worry if you cannot find the leftover in Temp folder, as it might have been erased already.
- Tap Win+R to launch RUN.
- Type regedit.exe and tap Enter.
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Tracing.
- Right-click and Delete these keys: My Email XP_RASAPI32 and My Email XP_RASMANCS.
- Tap Win+E (Explorer) and enter c:\Documents and Settings\user\AppData\Local\Application Data\Temp\XP into the address bar.
- Right-click and Delete this file: My Current News XP_settings.json.
