Pricemeter is classified as adware application, because it displays commercial advertisements. It is supposed to help you save money on your purchases online, because Pricemeter gets installed as a browser plug-in that collects information on what you shop for online. Later on, each time you access walmart.com, hp.com, dell.com and other online shopping websites, Pricemeter will display shopping coupons and discount offers. For the most part they should really help you purchase something at an optimal price, but security experts recommend removing Pricemeter, because the application may also display corrupted third party content.
The main homepage for Pricemeter can be accessed via pricemeter.net, but the download link on the website does not work. The question is then, how does Pricemeter enter computer systems worldwide if the download at the official distributor is not available? It is simple – the application is distributed bundled with freeware.

Based on our security research, Pricemeter is very similar to DealPly and Bonanza Deal adware application, and its structure is identical to Duuqu. Most of the time, Pricemeter comes bundled with InstallCore installers, so if you have this adware installed on your computer, it is very likely that there are other potentially unwanted applications in your system as well.
Pricemeter adds a plug-in only to Mozilla Firefox browser, and almost all of its commercial offers are injected through proxy server. It is obvious that the pop-ups displayed by this application are extremely annoying rather than dangerous, but it is still not a good idea to click them.

- Slide mouse cursor to the bottom right of your desktop.
- Wait for Charm bar to appear and click Settings. Go to Control Panel.
- Open Uninstall a program and remove Price Meter.
Windows Vista & Windows 7
- Open Start menu and go to Control Panel.
- Select Uninstall a program and remove Price Meter.
Windows XP
- Open Start menu and click Settings.
- Go to Control panel and open Add or remove programs.
