Mirageiso Removal Guide

Do you know what Mirageiso is?

According to our cyber security experts, Mirageiso is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) because it can be installed on your PC without your knowledge or permission. Also, it was revealed that it leaves junk files when you uninstall it from Control Panel. Hence, it is by no means a malicious program, but you can get it accidentally and its creators probably use this deceptive distribution method on purpose. Therefore, you might want to remove this application if you got it on your PC unintentionally. To find out more about this program, see read the information provided below.

Mirageiso was digitally signed by Sichuan Zhoushan Weizhen Technology Co., Ltd. This rather questionable company is allegedly based in China, but we are unsure about its origins as we have a reason to believe that the company name is fake. In the past, we have written about companies such as Beijing Muxing Technology, Zoekyu Technology, Bysenda Technology, and so on that have the word “technology” in the company name and are based in either Hong Kong or China.

As far as the distribution methods are concerned, this application has a promotional website at Mirageiso.com which claims that it is a free virtual CD-ROM that can open file types such as .mdc, .iso, .bin, .cue, and so on. While this program might be effectively used as a virtual drive, the point is that you cannot download it from its promotional website but it does have a dedicated distribution website. One of the reasons we have classified it as a potentially unwanted program is the fact that it can be installed on your PC without your knowledge or consent. Researchers say that its publishers might have this application bundled with third-party software that it put up for download on freeware hosting websites. The installers used on those websites might have been configured to install Mirageiso on your PC automatically unless you select advanced or custom installation settings and uncheck Mirageiso.Mirageiso Removal GuideMirageiso screenshot

If this program is installed on your PC, then it will connect to its server at 45.76.66.188. Also, it was set to check if it is launched in a virtual environment such as virtualbox, vmware. You may be able to use this program as a virtual drive, but you might want to get rid of it if you got it accidentally. If you run its uninstaller in Control Panel, then it will uninstall most of this program but will leave some junk files that you will have to delete manually if you want your PC to be free of junk files. The fact that it leaves junk files is the second reason why we classified it as a potentially unwanted program because well-made programs do not leave leftover files. Research has shown that it leaves a file named vtuiso.sys in %WINDIR%\System32\drivers and %WINDIR%\SysWOW64\drivers folders. It does not do anything after Mirageiso is uninstalled, but you might want to erase it regardless.

As you can see, Mirageiso is not a malicious program but our security specialists have classified it as a potentially unwanted program because it can be installed on your PC by stealth and due to the fact that it can leave junk files after you have uninstalled it.
