How to Remove Registry Keys
The Registry is a database used to store settings and options of your machine. Whenever you change a control panel setting, or file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are stored in the Registry. The Registry is common to several Windows operating systems and plays an important role in the machine’s operating system. Most of the hazardous parasites have the ability to change the Windows registry, causing a serious harm, as well as, a slow performance of your PC.
- Press the Start button on your Taskbar and then choose the option Run. In the Open field, type regedit and click the OK button.
- Edit the value (on the right pane) by right-clicking on it and selecting the Modify option.
- Select the Delete option. If you get a list of results, plug them into the Web to be sure you’re erasing malware-related keys.
- To add a new registry key or a new value, click on the Edit menu. Select option New and select a type for the entry.
- To export from the registry to the defined file, right-click on the object and select Export. You can also import a certain value or a key by clicking on the File menu and choosing Import. Then, select the objects that you want to import.
- Enter a file name and save files as a .reg extension.
- Close the registry editor and reboot your computer.

Certain keys in the Registry tell Windows not allow users access to some features, such as RegEdit; these keys may be located in either or both Registry Hives HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE. If any of the following Value Names appear in any of the Keys and the Data Value equals 1 then RegEdit is disabled for your use. You need to either edit the Registry the Data Value to zero or delete the Value Name.
