FetchSports Removal Guide

Do you know what FetchSports is?

FetchSports is a new ad-supported program that pretends to be a useful desktop application that offers you direct daily sports news and events. However, according to our researchers, this adware simply loads specific sports-related websites and may also annoy you with third-party advertisements and potentially unsafe web content. Although the software itself may use legitimate websites in its application window, it may also open browser windows with potentially unreliable content. The worst possible thing about this infection is that it never comes alone. Our researchers have found that if you find this adware on your computer, it is very likely that you will find several other malware threats as well. If you want to clean your PC of all possible threats, you should delete FetchSports ASAP and take care of the rest as well. If you leave even that slightest chance for cyber criminals to exploit a security hole, chances are they will do so before long.

If your computer is not protected by security software, it is possible that you can visit the official webpage of this application at fetchsports.com. But we do not advise you to do so. As a matter of fact, this page gets flagged as a threat for your computer, which is most likely due to the installer that is available for download on this page. The truth is that this installer is indeed a malicious bundle that can contain any latest infections, such as Media Manager, FreeGovernmentForms New Tab, and Search.ozipcompression.com. It is possible that you find different threats in this package because they seem to change from one region to another. Also, they can change after some time to always promote the latest infections. One thing is for sure, though: If you install this package, you will infect your computer with a couple of adware applications, browser hijackers, and potentially unwanted programs as well. Removing FetchSports will not be enough in this case as you may already feel.FetchSports Removal GuideFetchSports screenshot

Unfortunately, this is not the only way for this adware to show up on your computer. It is, in fact, much more likely that you let this application on board by clicking on unsafe third-party advertisements, for example, download offers. These mostly pop-up advertisements can come from adware programs on your computer or shady websites associated with file sharing. One click on the wrong ad may result in downloading this adware or even a whole bundle of “baddies.” This can also happen if your PC is infected with a browser hijacker and you run a web search through the promoted search engine. You can find yourself on a results page that contains corrupt links and ads. Clicking on these can also drop FetchSports or an infectious package onto your machine. That is why you should not stop at deleting FetchSports alone. It is equally important to identify all other potential threats. You can, for example, use an online malware scanner for this purpose. Just make sure, you are using a reliable one.

Our researchers have found that this adware is a new clone of ShopperSaga, FreebieCo, and Bigsporting. These applications are very similar; the only difference is their names and the themes they are trying to attract you by. We have also found that in this family even these themes may be cloned. Therefore, it can happen that you find two or three programs with identical themes, too. This adware promises you sports-related daily news and events. Once you launch this program, you will see a desktop window with a website loaded into it. This site can be anything related to sports, including performgroup.com. These sites are usually legitimate websites; however, this software does not function as a real browser so you will only be able to view the one page this program promotes.

FetchSports may also open an additional browser window with survey-related websites. These sites can host potentially harmful third-party advertisements and these surveys may also be exploited by cyber criminals to get personal information from you. If you download this program from its official site, you are also redirected to similar websites or even online casinos and all kinds of offer pages. All in all, we have found that this application is rather suspicious and may pose a threat to your virtual security. If you want order on your computer, you should delete FetchSports immediately.

At least at the end we can present to you some good news. If you are ready to say goodbye to this useless application, you can simply run its uninstaller through Control Panel. It is possible that you have never uninstalled an application; therefore, we have included instructions for you that are easy to follow. If you want to use a safe computer, you should take care of all possible threats. You can do this the hard way, i.e., manually, or the easy way, i.e., automatically. The manual method takes time and you may not even be able to detect all infections unless you are an expert. The automated method, on the other hand, is easy to use and does everything for you. We recommend that you install a reputable anti-malware program that will not only remove FetchSports and all other infections it finds present, but it will also safeguard your system from future attacks.

In non-techie terms:

FetchSports is yet another useless and potentially harmful ad-supported desktop application from a recent family that includes more and more adware programs built on the very same engine. This adware may introduce you to unreliable web content that might be a gateway to cyber criminals. What’s more, this application can bring a number of other malicious software installers on board, which again may cause multiple security threats for you and your computer. Since all the routes this application uses to enter your computer are rather questionable, you should be very careful if you find this adware on your system. As a matter of fact, you should not hesitate to remove FetchSports and all other infections you can find on board. If you do not want to go through all this manually, you can use a reliable anti-malware program to take care of your security automatically.
