Data Repair Removal Guide

Do you know what Data Repair is?

With all the threats facing healthy PCs these days, it has become increasingly more difficult for even expert users to distinguish between genuine and fake optimization tools like Data Repair. This rogue defragger, which emanates from the same family of threats as PC Repair, Windows Repair and Master Utilities, was never designed to be of any value to a PC. It was instead developed and designed to act as a vehicle with which criminals can rip consumers off. Despite its seemingly legitimate appearance Data Repair has no ability to detect or fix any type of error.

Data Repair will enter the system through a variety of nefarious ways. These range from using fake online malware scanners to seditious browser hijacking websites. As of late it has also been reported that Data Repair makes use of infected online flash ads to root its infections into its victims’ PCs.

The first clue the user will have as to the presence of Data Repair on the system will come from a fake system scan generated by Data Repair. This fake scan will report on false errors running wild on the system. The user will also receive the following fake alerts also generated by Data Repair:

System Error
An error occurred while reading system files. Run a system diagnostic utility to check your hard disk drive for errors.

Hard Drive Failure
The system has detected a problem with one or more installed IDE / SATA hard disks. It is recommended that you restart the system.

Critical Error
Hard drive critical error. Run a system diagnostic utility to check your hard disk drive for errors. Windows can’t find hard disk space. Hard drive error.

These fake alerts should not receive any attention as they are inherently false and without merit. Upon closer inspection users will recall that these fake alerts are completely nonsensical as they proclaim that Windows is unable to find hard disk space. If this were indeed the case the system would not be able to run at all.

Symptoms associated with Data Repair include blocked Internet connections and poor system performance. Users also complained about increased erratic system behavior and the inability to launch applications on the system. Enter the following security code into the rogue to disable these annoying symptoms:
