Manual Chrome redirect virus removal
Change proxy settings
- Open the browser.
- Press and hold down the Alt key and hit the F key.
- Click on Settings.
- Scroll down and click on Show advance settings.
- Under the heading Network, click on Change proxy settings.
- Open the Connections tab and click on LAN settings.
- Tick the box of Use a proxy server for your LAN and apply your changes.
- Press OK to save.
Change TCP/IP settings
Windows XP
- Go to the Start menu and select Control Panel.
- Click on Network and Internet Connection and go to Network Connections.
- Double-click on Local Area Connection.
- Select Properties.
- Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select Properties.
- The following entries should be marked: Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Press OK.
Windows 7
- Start menu – > Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet.
- Click on View network status and task under Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Change adapter settings.
- Right-click the connection and click on Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 5 (TCP/IPv6) or Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4) and click on Properties.
- Make sure that Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are marked and press OK.
Windows Vista
- Open the Start menu and select Control Panel.
- Click on Network and Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center and click on Manage network connections on the left side of the window.
- Right-click on the connection you want to modify.
- Select Properties.
- Click either on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or on Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
- Click on Properties.
- Mark Obtain and IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.
- Press OK to save the changes.
Alter Windows host file
- Follow the path C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc to access the host file.
- Open the file with Notepad (Text document).
- Go to the bottom of the text to check whether the only line is “127.0.0.1 localhost” or “::1”. Delete additional lines if some are present.
Remove unwanted extensions
- Open the browser.
- Press Alt +F.
- Go to Tools -> Extensions.
- Remove unauthorized or unwanted extensions.
