Do you know what BuyTheApp is?
BuyTheApp is an adware application that will monitor your browsing activity to create custom commercial content for you. The program will spam you with pop-ups and other types of advertisements with the intention to make money as you click them. You should refrain from clicking anything delivered by BuyTheApp because you can never know whether the promoted third-party content is safe or not. You will do yourself a favor if you remove this application from your computer. Not only does this program slow down your browser and eat up your system’s resources, but it may also inadvertently redirect you to dangerous websites that are involved in malware distribution.
As you can see, in the worst case scenario, BuyTheApp might be the first step towards a malware infection, and any user would want to avoid that. Some users think that this application is also malware because it seems to appear out of nowhere. However, BuyTheApp cannot infect your computer without your permission. You need to initiate the download process and set up the application in your system. Perhaps now you will shake your head, thinking you would never do that knowing what this program could lead to. Alas, quite often users download and install such applications without realizing it because they come in software bundles.
This means that you download and install more than just one program at a time. Since BuyTheApp does not have an official homepage, it is promoted and distributed via third-party websites. That is common for adware applications from the Multiplug family. BuyTheApp simply treads in the footsteps of AllDaySale, Dealsy, MetroCleaner, RainbowPrices, and so on. There are multiple applications out there based on the same JustPlugIt engine and promoted via the InstallRex, Amonetize, and Vittalia installers. They all use the same methods of development and distribution, and they all aim for one thing only: money.
Luckily, BuyTheApp cannot rip you off like a genuine ransomware or rogue antispyware application. This program cannot generate any financial profit unless you allow it to. And you help this program do that by clicking the pop-up ads it displays. Each time you click any of the BuyTheApp ads, you are redirected to an affiliated website, and you increase its traffic. As it happens, the people behind this adware program generate money via the pay-per-click system. Unfortunately, none of that comes back to you, so it would be possible to say that you are working for free. On top of that, you expose yourself to potential security threats, as not all the outgoing links in the BuyTheApp ads are safe.
What’s more, you have to take into consideration other unwanted applications that are obviously running on your system. BuyTheApp is more of a tell-tale sign that something is genuinely wrong with your PC, rather than an actual infection. Thus, once you remove BuyTheApp, you have to make sure you get rid of all the other dangerous programs immediately.
If you cannot tell which programs may cause ultimate system demise, you can scan your PC with the SpyHunter free scanner. Once you get the list of potential threats, eliminate them on the spot.
