Antivirus XP 2008 Sponsored Ads Appearing on Google Search

"Remove Antivirus XP" search term returns an Antivirus XP 2008 Sponsored Ads

Rogue anti-spyware programs such as Antivirus XP 2008 are being advertised through Google Adwords in an effort to spread fake anti-spyware programs over the internet.

Several security sources have post about the Antivirus XP 2008 sponsored ads appearing through Google searches. We have recently tested this theory by entering in the simple search term "remove antivirus xp" in Google and the results yielded a Sponsored Link shown in the images below.

The link reads:

Free Antivirus scan
Online edition + Antivirus XP 2008
New generation!
antivirus-2008.org

Obviously this ad link states nothing about removing antivirus xp 2008 or removing a virus which is what a person that enters the Google search term "remove antivirus xp" would want to do. Many people have a certain level of trust for the sponsored links through Google and now the hackers who developed rogue software want a piece of the pie but at the cost of ruining the reputation for this type of ad space.

Below is an image of the malicious website that the "Free Antivirus scan" sponsored link redirects you too. From that website the Antivirus XP 2008 program can be downloaded and purchased which is something that you DO NOT want to do.

If you have made the mistake of downloading and installing the Antivirus XP 2008 rogue anti-spyware program then you can follow our Antivirus XP 2008 Removal Guide link to rid yourself of this bothersome program.

Be extremely cautious of rogue anti-spyware program ads as this campaign is still prevalent.
